A Life through Letters - Book Reading and Discussion with Author Ashley Davis

Towards the end of his life, Ashley Davis’ father—-despite extreme physical challenges—composed letters to every person who had touched his life in some way. By crafting meaningful context around each letter in his book titled A Life Through Letters, Ashley enables readers to connect in their own way to his father’s reflections. With corporate experience focused on communication and relationships, Ashley strives to generate monumental impact and enhanced human connection through an inspired global letter writing movement.

Spring Wildflower Saunter with Tim Jones

To saunter is something altogether different from a hike or a stroll. It comes from a French expression that means to go on a rambling pilgrimage to a sacred place. That best describes the delight and improvisational nature of Tim’s wanderings among the mountain forests when they are resurrected with rich colors and aromas each Spring. This will be a chance to join Tim in a small group setting and experience in person many of the wildflowers that inhabit his photographs. Tim will be sharing some of his favorite plant lore along the way.

July 14 Erin Keane,
Light is Elastic: Encaustic Wax and Photography
Artist talk and demo, 3pm

Erin works primarily with photography and encaustic beeswax. Through her camera, she collects the beautiful colors and textures of daily life. When she takes photographs, even highly abstracted ones, they hold powerful memories of when, where, and why. Erin is especially interested in the elasticity of light as it dances around shadow and reflection. Capturing light is sometimes ethereal and sometimes edgy. It is intriguing how the camera lens “sees” differently than the eye.
