We are thrilled to host a special book event featuring author and TedX speaker, Ashley Davis to the gallery.
Ashley’s book, titled “A Life through Letters,” chronicles the life of his own father, a minister and missionary, in the many letters he wrote over his lifetime. What was initially a desire to honor his father, whose letters are collected in the book, has evolved into a call to return to communication via paper and pen and stamp. “I’ve discovered a bit of a subculture connected to letter writing,” says Ashley of promoting the book, which has included presenting a TEDx talk. “It’s been refreshing to see this resurgence out there and people who want to see the book succeed.”
“I knew by that feedback that the letters could be more than just a family treasure. I realized they were something that I wanted to share with the world,” he says. “Also, my father’s dream was to publish his letters as his memoir in letter form. So, completing the book became a passion project for me to complete in honor of my father.
“The reception of the book is a validation of my father‘s life, as well as how I’ve tried to live mine based on the things I’ve learned from him.”
Ashley's book is available at the gallery and he will be signing copies at the event.
The event is free and open to the public.
