Flood, Flame and Flight

Our present place and time in history, following a tumultuous year, has no doubt left many shaken and asking themselves how they might bring light and understanding into our latest chapter during these historic times.

Art has often played an important role during difficult journeys, and has also given hope and healing following heartache and loss.

Between February and September 2020 I painted eight monochromatic paintings reflecting the dark and turbulent events during those months (these can be viewed in “The Burden” on my website, veronikahart.com)

“Flood, Flame and Flight," painted in vibrant tones, is my latest piece. It touches on the hope I place in our grandchildren...hope that they may see past the sins and shortcomings of past generations...hope that they may correct wrongs and climb to a higher level of understanding and enlightenment.

The word “flight” is conjugated from the verbs “to fly” (soar, be free) and  “to flee” (run away, escape), thus there is a double meaning.
