There are all sorts of ways to celebrate our planetary home, and what more natural way to honor Mother Earth than through creative expression! That’s why we’re throwing a big GFR-style gathering that we’re calling Earth Day Reflections: An Artistic Celebration. This evening event will kick off here in the gallery at 5:00 pm on Monday, April 22 (Earth Day 2024).

Earth Day Reflections will include poetry readings from Tim Jones, whose photographs and poems draw on nature for inspiration. Gallery artist Dale McEntire will reflect on the natural world in his new painting titled Summer’s Promise, Flat Rock Together blogger Bruce Holliday will reflect on how nature informs his writing, and Alicia and Kevin Stump of Stump Farms will share about their urban sustainable farm located in neighboring Hendersonville. Local singer/songwriter Tom Fisch will provide music during the event, which will last until 7 p.m..

We’re proud to have Katie Breckheimer of MountainTrue speak briefly about how her organization is working to protect the natural environment in our beautiful mountain region. Net proceeds from Earth Day Reflections will go to support MountainTrue’s mission.

We will start the evening at 5 pm with delicious tastings from Stump Farms and then be seated at 5:30 pm for the program. We really will have all our senses awakened at this event!

Tickets to Earth Day Reflections are $15 per person. Purchase tickets using the link below or by coming in the gallery. Net proceeds will benefit MountainTrue.

Art and Earth lovers alike are invited to Earth Day Reflections: An Artistic Celebration on Monday, April 22nd at 5:30 p.m. The program will feature artwork, music, fresh produce tasting from a local farm, poetry and prose presented by artists who find nature to be a source of inspiration and solace in their creative and everyday lives.

Participating in the program will be Tim Jones a published poet and accomplish nature photographer who is well-known to friends of The Gallery. Also, presenting will be Gallery artist Dale McEntire who will share his thoughts on the inspiration he draws from the natural world for his paintings. Bruce Holliday, editor of the weekly newsletter, Flat Rock Together, will read selected reflections from his publication that deal with the beauty and solace he discovers in the natural world. Alicia and Kevin Stump from Stump Farms will share details of their urban sustainable farm and provide the refreshments for the event. The poetry, painting, and prose will be complimented by the music of local singer/songwriter Tom Fisch who credits the Blue Ridge Mountains for inspiration. Tom plays acoustic guitar and has released several albums under his own name.

Net proceeds from this event will be donated to MountainTrue, a local nonprofit that champions resilient forests, clean waters, and healthy communities in the Sothern Blue Ridge. Through its programs, MountainTrue fosters and empowers residents throughout the region to engage in community planning, policy and project advocacy, and on-the-ground projects to benefit our environment.

The evening begins with light refreshments prepared by the fresh bounty from Stump Farms at 5:00 p.m. and the program will start at 5:30.
