About Finding Peace

My painting, “Finding Peace,” began as another painting entirely in 2015. It was one I had never fully connected with. So, in the middle of 2020, I decided to work over it to see if I could find its true heart. Yet, no matter what I did, the painting just wasn’t working and not only did it not please me but it went from “bad to worse.” I ended up moving it out of sight, and giving my struggle a break.

In November, I retrieved it and began anew, following a path I rarely travel, discovering an emerging landscape. As I worked, it lifted my spirits as I trusted my process. When I finished, a calm came over me, as if this painting arrived from a space I needed to experience.

This personal challenge, reminds me that trials and tribulations can eventually lead to a place of peace.
