ARE THEY PRECIOUS IN YOUR SIGHT

My painting, “Are They Precious in Your Sight?”, is based on the old Christian song Jesus Loves the Little Children. This song was meant to be inclusive in its time. It has since been rewritten a few times. My work is typically abstract but I needed to incorporate a cross (my own) to make the meaning more concrete. The colors in this oil painting mostly mimic the old line “red and yellow, black and white”. The next line “they are precious in his sight” means Jesus loves all children. Are the children precious in your sight? Banning birthright citizenship, separating parents from their children and taking away safety net supports are a curious way to show they matter.
