Welcome
Our Mission & Vision
We Represent and Support Professional Local Artists
It is our privilege to represent WNC professional artists whose livelihoods
were severely impacted by the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene in
September of 2024. We are dedicated to helping them recover and
reemerge with new artwork that will be valued for years to come. Over the
years, this region has attracted collectors of fine art and craft, rivaling that
of any big city gallery. We invite you to shop The Gallery at Flat Rock, and
you’ll understand why supporting local artists and galleries requires no
sacrifice in the quality of artwork you collect.
Why support local artists?
When you buy from a local artist, you are buying more than just a piece of
artwork. You are purchasing countless hours of experimentation. You are
buying days, weeks, months, and years of determination and perseverance
aimed at mastering their skills and perfecting their style. You are honoring
their hard-earned accomplishments and the recognition they deserve. We
thank you in advance for honoring the mastery of those we represent!

Meet the Owners ...
Julie and Phil Wilmot opened Art on 7th in the fall of 2021. They had moved to Western North Carolina in 2018 from Dallas, Texas, seeing the area as the perfect place to retire. After three years of “sitting on the back porch,” the couple decided it was time to put down deeper roots, with the goals of connecting to people and contributing to the economic vitality of Hendersonville and its growing reputation as an arts destination.
This venture allowed them to expand their involvement in the local community and assume leadership roles in downtown Hendersonville and 7th Avenue revitalization initiatives, and with non-profits offering cultural and critical need programs to the region. Julie and Phil have always valued the privilege of volunteering and sharing their gifts refined by years of life experiences as parents and professionals.
In June 2024 the Wilmots purchased The Gallery at Flat Rock from Suzanne Camarata, who opened the gallery’s doors in 2015. The purchase allowed her to return to her hometown to be closer to her aging parents and safeguarded the popular gallery to remain open and true to the vision of its founder.
Julie and Phil invite you to visit their galleries, experience the warm hospitality, and take in the visual enchantment of their carefully curated artwork.
