Exhibition Concept

The concept of Art in Bloom pairs twenty professional floral designers with an equal number of artists to present imaginative interpretations of juried works of art. Floral designers study the artwork and then create fresh floral interpretations. The floral pieces are exhibited in tandem with the artwork that inspired the designer, creating a dynamic visual display.

More than 850 guests attended Art in Bloom in 2024. Preparations for the acclaimed exhibition begin months in advance, starting with a call for artists. Last year more than 190 pieces of artwork were submitted and judged resulting in 20 curated unique selections in both 2D and 3D artwork.

AnnMarie LeBlanc | 2025 Judge and Curator of Artwork

This year’s judge, selecting 20 works of art submitted for coveted inclusion in the annual show, is fine artist AnnMarie LeBlanc. LeBlanc lives in Western North Carolina where she resides with her husband. Her move to the Blue Ridge Mountains came after a decision to step down from a career as a university professor of art and design to once again embrace art-making full time. LeBlanc holds an MFA from Bowling Green State University, a MA from Purdue University, a BFA from Louisiana State University and post-graduate studies at University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Her areas of expertise include traditional and digital media, color theory and history of art and design. LeBlanc’s images have been included in numerous national and international adjudicated exhibitions and publications, a dozen solo or two-person exhibitions and her works are included in over 300 private and corporate collections in the U.S. and abroad.
