Join international artist José Bayro C. for an exciting 2-day workshop in the courtyard of
Hotel Domestique in Travelers Rest. No experience necessary but an open mind is required!
Daily gourmet lunches are included.
SCHEDULE
Day One | Working with Acrylics
Introduction and presentation.
Proportion: The Golden Mean.
Development of a background with texture.
Brief introduction to the history of art.
The self portrait: skin color, hair, textiles and prints.
Include a personal object in your painting.
Painting techniques: layering colors, complementary colors, transparencies, and gradients of a color.
Working with gold leaf, glued on applications and stencils.
Touch up details.
Day Two | Working with Oils and Mixed Media
Sanding: enhance details and textures.
Shadowing and highlighting.
Background textures using a palette knife.
Using words and letters in the painting.
Applications held in place with copper wire.
Final, complete touch-up
Feedback and comments.
MATERIALS TO BRING
Participants should be prepared to bring the following items:
Easel
1 Stretched Canvas - around 22 x 28” (larger is fine..just not much larger)
Acrylics - 3 primary colors, black, a large tube of white, sienna and brown
Oil paints (if you have…no worries if you don’t)
2” Brush
1.5” Brush
Three small glass jars with tops
Small bottle of turpentine
A small bottle of Liquin Original made by Winsor and Newton
