Helene Lund Den Boer | Textiles

I am always hunting for stories to tell, strong motives, interesting narratives, and just the right combinations of color and texture. I enjoy the hunt immensely, and it is always a glorious moment when idea, motive, and fabric come together.
— Helene

Helene is originally from Denmark, but since 1996 she has lived outside her mother country in the United Kingdom and various places in the United States, including a couple of years on the tropical island of Guam. She is now settled with her family in Hendersonville, North Carolina.

Creating has always been in Helene’s blood: mostly drawing and painting, and always figurative forms. Storytelling has been her main focus and interest from the beginning, and she’s always had a special connection with the female portrait.

Over the years, Helene has gone through pencils, charcoal, collage, oil and acrylic paint. A few years ago, however, her focus turned to thread and fabric. This change happened soon after moving to the Appalachian Mountains. The new environment and different surroundings pushed her work in a new direction. It has been like that for Helene with every move to a new place in the world.
