ELIZABETH PELL | Acrylic

I’m enthralled with the making of things, a constant need to attend to whether it be baking a pie or using a torch to cut steel. I am grateful for the freedom to explore time-consuming, creative activity as it feeds my soul. And when someone responds to something I’ve made, it’s the most wonderful high.
— Elizabeth

Elizabeth has been creating for over four decades across expressive mediums: photography, ceramics, blacksmithing, sculpture, weaving, woodworking, painting, and collage.

Elizabeth’s current passion is painting intuitive landscapes. These ethereal scenes are misty with clouds, and suffused with movement while offering a moment of pause for viewers. Her paintings shimmer with liminal light and beauty.

“Elizabeth always responds to what is atmospheric and painterly, moody, mysterious, tactile. She works in a rhythm and responds to rhythm. Like the sea, her movements flow in and out. Elizabeth applies paint as if inspired by weather and nature -- fog, dusk, mood, sweeping gestures, and wave-like paintbrush strokes.” Alexandra Sheldon, artist, Cambridge, Massachusetts
